The Town of Sexsmith is located approximately 480 kilometers northwest of
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. (The provincial capital and home of the world's largest
mall, West Edmonton Mall.) In flying time, we are only one hour away from Edmonton.
We are approximately 20 kilometers from our largest center, the City of Grande Prairie.
Grande Prairie has a population of about 40,000 and is experiencing a fast paced
economic boom. Grande Prairie is the shopping mecca of the north, with the most square
feet of retail space and restaurant space per capita in Canada.
Sexsmith is a wonderful small town within easy traveling distance of much larger centers.
We have a safe, clean environment and all the benefits of a larger centre.
Sexsmith, named after an early trapper and merchant, has experienced steady growth and today
has a population of 2,255. We have a growth rate of 4.27% per year and anticipate this growth
rate to continue.
Our main street stores have been redesigned in the 1920's and 1930's theme, with street lights
fashioned on an old gaslight theme. (A view of this is shown on our home page.) Our very active
Museum Society continues to restore buildings to maintain this interest.
The community is very active and is an excellent place to raise a family. |
