Partial Temporary Road Closure for 1 to 2 weeks
With several days forecasted to reach double digit temperatures, the Town will be staging pumps as a precautionary temporary measure, causing a partial road closure along 100 Avenue.
The current drainage system is managing the in-town melt well at this time, however as the snow in the fields begins to melt, we anticipate flows could increase causing the need for pumping.
The pumps will be on stand-by ready to be put into action in case this should happen.
Please plan to take alternate routes. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure will cause.
If you have any concerns or find that you require sandbags currently, please call public works at 780-518-0576.
The Town did undertake a stormwater management master plan funded by the Provincial government and has also obtained funds from the Province to implement the projects in this plan. Currently additional funds are awaiting approval at the federal level. If this funding is approved this will allow the town to make some major upgrades to control spring melt water flows into the community on a permanent basis. It is anticipated that news on this funding will be made available before the end of 2020.Click here to view the map of the road closure.
